Tampa Home Prices Stop Falling from April to May

Following months of narrowing price drops, April to May prices remained unchanged, in the Tampa metro area for the first time in 3 years.
Home prices are down approx 20% compared to this time last year and perhaps we’ve have really reached the bottom of the market at theis level. If we have watch for sales to pick up as buyers have been putting off purchasing a home until they could have some confidence that they won’t be under water after closing.
If you have been putting off buying a home now is the time to get serious about moving. Mortgage rates have been steady but trending upward while home prices appear to be stabilizing.

Floridians Will Get Assistance In Fighting Home Foreclosures

Countrywide Settlement Will Fund Legal Assistance Program
A new foreclosure defense assistance program was announced on Tuesday by Attorney General Bill McCollum and The Florida Bar Foundation.
The $4 milliion program will be funded by money obtained in a settelment reached with Countrywide Financial Corp for it’s part in the housing collapse.

Real Estate stats continue to improve across the board

According to the U.S. Commerce dept new home sales soared in June from the previous month, the third increase in a row, supplying evidence the housing market is beginning to recover from its long crisis.
Exsisting home sales rose again in June from the previous month, but prices are still down sharply compared with last year.
Home resales rose more than expected, the National Association of Realtors said Thursday. The NAR originally reported May sales up 2.4% nationwide. Foreclosures and short sales reflected 31% of sales in June.
